Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a software engineer to define and implement governance patterns for AI-assisted development using tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot. You will design guardrails, controls, and engineering patterns across local development, CI/CD pipelines, and production platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on background as a software engineer.
• Broad technical understanding across developer tooling, cloud platforms, operating systems, desktop environments, security controls, observability, telemetry, and CI/CD.
• Experience working on developer workflows and engineering ways of working beyond end-user delivery.
• Ability to turn research or experimentation into practical implementation.
• Strong communication skills across technical disciplines and stakeholders.
• Curiosity and sound engineering judgement across discipline boundaries.
• Experience with enterprise adoption of AI-assisted development tools (desirable).
• Familiarity with secure developer environments or policy enforcement (desirable).
• Experience with containerised development environments (desirable).
• Exposure to telemetry, usage analytics, or engineering reporting pipelines (desirable).
• Experience in regulated or control-heavy enterprise environments (desirable).
• Some data engineering or analytics capability related to reporting and insight (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Investigate safe patterns for enterprise use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot.
• Design and implement guardrails, controls, and engineering patterns for AI-assisted development.
• Contribute to endpoint and platform observability, telemetry, and policy enforcement.
• Define how controls work consistently across local development environments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Explore changes to development environments, including containerised or backend-offloaded approaches.
• Run research, proof-of-concept work, and technical experimentation.
• Work across engineering, platform, security, and adjacent enterprise teams to turn concepts into operating solutions.
• Shape scalable practices for governance, rollout, and developer adoption.
• Help build an AI-enabled delivery platform on AWS to modernise the path to production.
