Job summary

Airbus is seeking a Laboratory Specialist to join its Materials Laboratory team in Broughton, supporting quality, performance and compliance of materials and manufacturing processes used in aircraft production.

You will work with advanced analytical techniques such as IC, ICP and FTIR, perform sample preparation, operate equipment and deliver technical reports to engineering and production stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Chemistry or related field.
• HNC in Chemistry with industrial experience acceptable.
• Experience in a practical laboratory with chemical analysis.
• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and industry standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analysis of surface treatment chemicals, rinse tanks, effluent, sealants, paints and hydraulic fluids.
• Prepare samples, perform dilutions and run laboratory tests using various analytical techniques.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Analyse test results and produce technical reports for engineering and production stakeholders.
• Support investigations into non-conformance and failure analysis activities.
• Lead laboratory trials for new products and processes before shop-floor implementation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain laboratory procedures, work instructions and quality documentation.
• Conduct COSHH and risk assessments and record testing activities in QMS.
