Job summary

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is seeking a part‑time Administrator (30 hours/week) based at Droitwich Medical Centre. You will join the 0–19 Public Health Nursing team, supporting the Worcestershire locality with data entry, mailbox management, and general admin tasks.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ administrative/secretarial experience.
  • Education to Level 3 or Level 2 with NHS admin experience and commitment to Level 3 on appointment.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a generic mailbox, process statutory and health notifications, data input, collate information, update patient records on Rio, handle telephone calls and other tasks as per job description.
  • Be flexible and able to multi‑task, work in a busy team, provide excellent customer service.
  • Support the 0–19 Public Health Nursing team and localities, with opportunities for development.

Job overview

We are seeking a Part‑time Administrator, 30 hours per week to join our dedicated 0–19 Public Health Nursing team, which includes Health Visitors, School Nurses, Community Health Practitioners and School Health Support Workers. Working hours will be agreed with the successful candidate, with shifts to be completed between 8am and 5pm, Monday, Thursday and Friday and either a Tuesday or Wednesday each week.

This role is permanently based at Droitwich Medical Centre, where free staff parking is available. Full induction and training will be provided.

As part of our administrative team, you will support the Wychavon locality on a daily basis, with occasional remote support for other localities across the county. You will be joining a service that prides itself on delivering outstanding care to children, young people and families across Worcestershire.

Main duties of the job

Day to day work will include managing a generic mailbox, processing statutory and health notifications, data inputting, collating information, updating patient records on Rio, dealing with telephone calls and other tasks as set out in the job description. Applicants will be expected to have good interpersonal and IT skills and be willing to learn and develop within the team.

The role is busy and varied and requires the post holder to have a flexible approach and a calm, professional manner. The ability to work accurately whilst multi-tasking is essential. A can‑do attitude and excellent customer service skills are a must.

Experience
  • Recent, relevant Administrative/Secretarial experience (usually demonstrated by a minimum of 2 years’ experience)
Qualifications
  • Educated to academic Level 3 (e.g.: A-Level, NVQ3, OCR/RSA3, City and Guilds 3) in a Business/ Administration related subject Or Educated to academic Level 2 (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C) with considerable recent NHS administrative experience and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 3 qualification on appointment to post
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act and NHS Code of Confidentiality
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
  • Standard IT skills – these will be tested at interview
  • Good organisational skills
