Overview
A government entity is inviting qualified applicants for the position of Accountant. The successful candidate will support the finance team in ensuring the timely and accurate verification of a high volume of financial transactions across the organization. The role also involves reconciliations, report reviews, and general operational support.
Principal Accountabilities
- Timely and accurate review of Accounts Payable transactions
- Monthly reconciliation of the Purchase Order Sub-ledger to the General Ledger
- Monthly analysis of prepayments
- Fixed asset management
- Operational support to the wider Finance Unit
- Assisting with other duties as required
- Deputizing for the Senior Accountant when necessary
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a finance-related role
- Qualified ideally or actively pursuing an accounting designation (ACCA, CPA, CMA)
- Proficiency in financial accounting systems and advanced spreadsheet applications
- Strong computer literacy, especially with Microsoft tools
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and analytical skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Experience in tertiary education or public sector is an asset
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong financial reporting and accounting skills, including accrual and fund accounting
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial schedules
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to urgent situations
- Familiarity with IFRS and IPSAS standards
- Understanding of the Cayman Islands Government PMFA is an asset
- High integrity and discretion in handling confidential matters
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
