Job description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Practice Trained Accountant to join a successful and established independent firm of Chartered Accountants based on the Sussex coast. They are seeking someone who can develop and grow the business, manage and advance their career to a senior position.

Responsibilities of the Accountant role
  • Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors, acting as their main point of contact
  • Prepare and review annual statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS 102
  • Review corporation tax returns, personal tax returns, VAT returns, payroll and management accounts
  • Ensure all filing deadlines and client deliverables are met efficiently
  • Support clients with day-to-day queries, including tax planning, software use (FreeAgent, Xero, QuickBooks, etc.), and compliance issues
  • Supervise, mentor, and review work completed by junior staff and trainees
  • Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients where required
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and support business development
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting and tax legislation
  • Contribute to process improvement and implementation of new software.
Requirements of the Accountant role
  • Fully Qualified ACA or ACCA
  • First-rate systems skills, QuickBooks, Xero, FreeAgent, MS Excel
  • Highly organised with first-rate communication
