Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting a Screening Technician to perform abdominal ultrasound scans as part of the community AAA screening programme. After completing the National AAA Screening Programme course, the post holder will work independently and adhere to national SOPs while reassuring attendees about the test and its implications.

Accreditation with NAAASP must be maintained, and staff contribute to compassionate care and clear, empathetic communication throughout

Qualifications

• Undertake abdominal ultrasound scanning as part of the community AAA screening programme.
• Maintain accreditation with NAAASP.
• Work independently after completion of the NAAASP course, following standard operating procedures.
• Explain the screening procedure to attendees and address questions with clarity.

Responsibilities

• Perform abdominal scans within standard operating procedures.
• Reassure men attending the community AAA screening and surveillance clinics.
• Explain the screening test and its implications to attendees.
• Maintain NAAASP accreditation and update documentation as required.
• Follow the National AAA Screening Programme guidelines and SOPs.
