Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Gloucestershire and Swindon is seeking a Screening Technician to join the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme. You will undertake abdominal ultrasound screening as part of the national AAA programme, with training provided, and contribute to high standards of patient care.

You will explain the process to patients, check details, and support outreach events.

Qualifications

• Experience in abdominal ultrasound screening or willingness to train.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
• Ability to explain the screening process clearly to patients.

Responsibilities

• Undertake abdominal ultrasound scanning as part of the community AAA screening programme (training will be provided).
• Ensure scans are performed to a high standard and in line with national SOPs.
• Explain and reassure patients about AAA screening and its implications.
• Check patient details and maintain accurate records.
• Support public information and involvement in promotion events.

The NHS Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) national screening programme aims to reduce deaths from ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms through early detection, monitoring and treatment., We are looking for enthusiastic Screening Technician to join the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme in Gloucestershire and Swindon.

• Undertaking abdominal ultrasound scanning as part of the community AAA screening programme (training will be given).
• Ensuring abdominal ultrasound scanning is undertaken to a high standard and in accordance with national standard operating procedures.
• Explains and reassures patients attending the community abdominal aortic aneurysm-screening programme, especially where barriers to understanding exist.
• Ensures that members of the public attending clinics are informed and aware of the implications of AAA screening
