Job summary

Taylor Hopkinson is seeking a qualified electrical engineer for HV substations up to 400kV in Scotland. You will lead outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout and single line diagrams for new-build and asset replacement projects, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing contractor designs, witnessing FAT, applying safety-by-design, supporting installation quality, and evaluating tenders for specialist services.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified electrical engineer
• Transmission experience
• 3+ years' substation project engineer experience up to 400kV
• Proven HV substation design, operation, and maintenance experience
• Proficiency in project management
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations

Responsibilities

• Create outline scope, site location plans, plant layout and single line diagrams for 400kV projects.
• Review contractor/consultants' detailed designs and witness FAT.
• Implement safety-by-design principles to control engineering and safety risks.
• Support site and operational teams to ensure installation quality with minimal network security risk.
• Evaluate tenders and procure/manage specialist services from consultants.
