Job summary

A leading electricity transmission organization is seeking a Substation (HV Primary Plant) Engineer to join its Project Engineering team in Glasgow. You will work on major high-voltage substation projects contributing to the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. Responsibilities include developing engineering scopes, reviewing contractor designs, and providing technical support. Ideal candidates should have a strong understanding of transmission systems, project governance knowledge, and a degree in Electrical Engineering. Chartered Engineer status is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experienced electrical engineer with a strong understanding of transmission systems.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress towards accreditation is desirable.
• Strong awareness of regulatory obligations regarding transmission assets.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering scopes, site plans, and layouts for high-voltage substation projects.
• Review detailed designs by contractors to ensure compliance.
