Job summary

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is recruiting for a part-time Switchboard Operator at Manor Hospital in Walsall. The role involves operating the computerised switchboard, handling calls and messages, and supporting a 24/7 service from a busy district general hospital.

The 22.5-hour week rota includes specific shifts; salary is £25,272 per annum, pro rata. The Trust promotes flexible working and aims to deliver high-quality care within integrated services.

Qualifications

• Good standard of general education e.g. GCSE
• Continued personal and professional training or new Telecommunications technologies.
• Experience with working with a telephone system

Responsibilities

• Operate telecommunications using the computerised switchboard consoles and provide a complete service
• Deal with client queries in a polite and professional manner, upholding the Trust's image
• Manage telephone and email enquiries and maintain accurate records in the computer database
• Answer and transfer calls, take accurate messages and forward appropriately
• Deal with emergency calls and monitor alarm systems per policies and procedures
• Provide support to colleagues and monitor 24/7 switchboard operations
