Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil in a primary school in Burnley. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and staff to help the pupil access learning and develop socially and emotionally.

The ideal candidate will have prior primary school experience, some SEN exposure and strong communication skills. The role is full-time, term-time only, 8.30am–3.30pm, with a start date in early November 2026.

Job description

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team. This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a Year 6 pupil, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff, you will play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment whilst supporting the pupil's educational and emotional development during this important transition year.

1:1 Year 6 Teaching Assistant

Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.50 - £15.75 per hour
Contract: Full-time, term-time only (8.30am – 3.30pm)
Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026 or ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
