Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Burnley. The role focuses on providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and build confidence in a nurturing environment.

As an SEN TA, you will work under the SENCO and alongside teachers to support social, emotional and academic development, using targeted strategies and promoting independence within daily school routines.

We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming primary school in Burnley.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference to children's education and enjoys providing individualised support to help pupils build confidence, develop independence and reach their full potential.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs
• Supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
• Helping pupils access classroom learning and activities
• Supporting children's social, emotional and academic development
• Using strategies recommended by the class teacher and SENCO
• Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence
• Helping pupils with transitions and changes to their daily routine
• Building positive and trusting relationships with children
• Working closely with teachers and other support staff to provide consistent support

We would love to hear from candidates who:

• Have experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Have worked within a school, nursery, care, support or youth setting
• Are patient, resilient and nurturing
• Can adapt their approach to meet individual children's needs
• Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
• Are reliable, positive and able to work as part of a team

A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification would be beneficial, although strong practical experience supporting children with additional needs is also welcomed.
