Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a 1:1 role at a mainstream primary school in the BS4 area of Bristol. The post focuses on supporting a KS2 pupil with complex needs, helping them access the curriculum and stay engaged in class.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress, foster independence, reinforce positive behaviours, and support social and emotional development throughout the school day.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with complex SEN needs in a mainstream school setting (essential).
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with complex needs in a mainstream class.

Location: BS4, Bristol

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm

Are you a patient and nurturing Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 role? We are working with a lovely mainstream primary school in the BS4 area of Bristol who are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child in KS2 with complex needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with SEN experience who can bring a calm, consistent and supportive approach to help a child flourish in their learning and build their confidence throughout the school year.

The Role:
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with complex needs within a mainstream classroom setting
  • Supporting the child to access classroom learning and stay engaged with activities
  • Helping with transitions, daily routines and tasks throughout the school day
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
  • Supporting social skills, communication and emotional regulation
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress
  • Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment for the child

  • Experience supporting children with complex SEN needs in a mainstream school setting (essential)
  • A calm, patient and reassuring approach
  • Someone who enjoys being active and spending time outdoors
  • A sporty or outdoorsy personality would be a great fit for this role
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs
  • Ability to stay positive and composed in challenging situations
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Reliability, professionalism and a commitment to safeguarding
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
