Job summary

Summary A beautiful primary school is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with severe autism. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is committed to positively impacting the educational and social development of children with additional needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Background in working within a primary school or similar educational setting.
• Strong understanding of the challenges and effective support strategies for severe autism.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
• Flexibility to adapt to the individual needs of the child.
• A strong commitment to promoting inclusion and positive outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with children who have complex SEN needs.
• Knowledge of sensory regulation strategies and visual support systems.
• Familiarity with EHCPs and the implementation of targeted support plans.
• Relevant SEN qualifications or training such as Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support, or similar.
