Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in Altrincham from October 2026. This full-time position offers the opportunity to positively impact a child’s learning, development, and wellbeing within a supportive primary school setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism (desirable).
  • Proven ability to support primary-aged pupils in a classroom setting.
  • Patience, empathy and a nurturing approach are essential.

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Altrincham that is seeking a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 2 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) from October 2026.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with autism throughout the school day.
  • Help the pupil access learning activities and engage positively within the classroom.
  • Implement strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism (desirable)
  • Has previous experience supporting primary-aged pupils in a school or similar setting
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
  • Understands the importance of consistency and building positive relationships
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is proactive, resilient, and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential)
