Job summary

Randstad UK is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs across primary and secondary schools in the local area.

You will choose your own schedule with regular local bookings, providing tailored support and helping students access the curriculum while building confidence and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in educational or care settings.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Patient, resilient, proactive and encouraging personality.
• Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and build rapport with students.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 academic, emotional, and behavioural support to assigned pupils.
• Help students engage with classroom activities adapted by the class teacher.
• Assist with emotional regulation, sensory breaks, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Foster independence, self-esteem, and social communication skills.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and school support staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), such as Autism, ADHD, MLD, or SEMH, in an educational or care setting.
• Attributes: A patient, resilient, proactive, and naturally encouraging personality.
• Adaptability: Ability to step into different classroom environments and build rapport with students quickly.
• Requirements: Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and suitable references.
