Job summary

Randstad UK is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs across local primary and secondary schools. You can choose a flexible day-to-day schedule with regular local bookings.

Work hours run 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with weekly PAYE pay. An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) is required, and Randstad UK will connect you with suitable schools and roles.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in education or care.

• Adaptability to different classrooms and rapport with students quickly.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 academic, emotional, and behavioural support to assigned pupils.
• Help students engage with classroom activities adapted by the class teacher.
• Assist with emotional regulation, sensory breaks, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Foster independence, self-esteem, and social communication skills.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and school support staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), such as Autism, ADHD, MLD, or SEMH, in an educational or care setting.
• Attributes: A patient, resilient, proactive, and naturally encouraging personality.
• Adaptability: Ability to step into different classroom environments and build rapport with students quickly.
• Requirements: Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and suitable references.
