Job summary

Randstad UK is currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs across primary and secondary settings in the local area.

You will provide tailored academic, emotional and behavioural support, help students engage with lessons, and work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff. The role offers flexible day-to-day bookings and weekly PAYE pay.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in educational or care settings.
• Patient, resilient and proactive personality.
• Adaptability to different classroom environments and quick rapport with students.
• Enhanced DBS check on Update Service (or willing to apply) and suitable references.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 academic, emotional, and behavioural support to assigned pupils.
• Help students engage with classroom activities adapted by the class teacher.
• Assist with emotional regulation, sensory breaks, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Foster independence, self-esteem, and social communication skills.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and school support staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), such as Autism, ADHD, MLD, or SEMH, in an educational or care setting.
• Attributes: A patient, resilient, proactive, and naturally encouraging personality.
• Adaptability: Ability to step into different classroom environments and build rapport with students quickly.
• Requirements: Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and suitable references.
