Job summary

St Paul’s CE Primary School in Swanley is seeking a caring 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a Reception pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan. You will work alongside the class teacher, SENCO and family to enable inclusion and access to the Early Years curriculum.

The role emphasises modelling routines, using visual supports and Makaton, with focus on communication, independence and safe transitions throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting a child with SEND in an early years setting.
• Ability to use visual supports and sign language where appropriate.
• Commitment to inclusive education and child wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a Reception pupil across the school day.
• Support communication using spoken language, Makaton and visuals.
• Assist with routines, transitions and independent learning.
• Observe and report on progress to the class teacher and SENCO.
• Promote safe, inclusive participation in activities and play.
