Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for two Reception pupils with SEND in Redditch. You will assist in learning activities and help pupils access education, building social skills and confidence in an inclusive mainstream primary setting.

Ideal candidates have experience in SEND, strong communication, and a patient, empathetic approach. DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one is required. Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with SEND or similar settings.
• Experience in education, childcare, support work or related roles is desirable.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willing to obtain DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to two Reception pupils with SEND.
• Support learning activities within the classroom and during interventions.
• Encourage communication, social interaction, and emotional development.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Promote independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
• Support pupils with transitions and classroom routines.
• Help create a calm, safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with personal care when required.
• Follow EHCP targets and strategies where applicable.
• Work with teachers and SEND staff to meet needs.
