Job summary

Protocol Education in Harrow is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs within a school setting. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to help pupils access the curriculum and make progress.

The role involves one-to-one or small-group support, assisting with IEPs and behaviour plans, adapting materials, and monitoring progress while maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEND in school or care setting.
  • Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Support pupils with classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of individual pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and report concerns to the class teacher or SENCO.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs if required.
