Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for two Reception pupils with SEND in Redditch. You will assist in learning activities and help pupils access education, building social skills and confidence in an inclusive mainstream primary setting.

Ideal candidates have experience in SEND, strong communication, and a patient, empathetic approach. DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one is required. Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with SEND or similar settings.
• Experience in education, childcare, support work or related roles is desirable.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willing to obtain DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Redditch. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to two Reception-aged pupils (4-5 years old) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will support one pupil during the morning and another during the afternoon, helping both children access learning, develop social skills, and build confidence within the classroom environment. The school prides itself on providing a nurturing and inclusive setting where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Nursery Practitioner, or anyone with experience supporting children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to two pupils in Reception with SEND.

• Support with personal care when required.
• Follow EHCP targets and support strategies where applicable.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and SEND staff to meet individual pupil needs.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, additional needs, or challenging behaviours.
• Experience in education, childcare, support work, care, youth work, or similar settings is desirable.
• Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable supporting personal care needs when required.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Available full-time, Monday to Friday.
