Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant for a Reception pupil in the Merstham/Redhill area. The role starts with half-days during a transition period and hours will increase as the child settles in.

You will provide focused 1:1 support to help the child access learning, develop communication and engage safely within the classroom environment, with PAYE, Mon-Fri, term-time only.

Qualifications

• Strong experience supporting autistic children.
• Experience supporting non-verbal children.
• Intensive Interaction experience.
• Attention Bucket intervention experience.
• Calm, patient and proactive approach to 1:1 support.
• Ability to maintain a safe environment through close supervision.
• Experience working within a primary school or SEND setting.
• Confident working closely with an autistic child with consistent, patient support.

1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant - Reception

Location: Merstham/Redhill

Start Date: Monday 7th September 2026

Pay: £14.25 per hour

PAYE Mon-Fri, Term Time Only

Hours: Initially half-days, increasing as the child settles into school (mornings only)

The Role

The successful Teaching Assistant will provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day, helping the child access learning, develop communication and engage safely within the classroom environment.

• This role would suit a Teaching Assistant who is confident working closely with an autistic child and is able to provide consistent, patient and highly attentive support.
