Job summary

Upper Arley C of E Primary School in the West Midlands is seeking a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a named pupil throughout the school day, helping access learning and build independence.

The role involves implementing EHCP guidance, promoting inclusivity, and working with teachers, SEND professionals and families to support the child’s academic, social and emotional development.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting a child 1:1 in a school setting.
• Patience, empathy and a child-centred approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for a named pupil throughout the school day.
• Implement strategies identified in the child's EHCP, support plans and professional recommendations.
• Support the child's academic, social, emotional and communication development.
• Adapt learning activities under the direction of the class teacher.
• Promote independence whilst providing appropriate levels of support.
• Use positive behaviour approaches and emotional regulation strategies.
• Liaise effectively with teaching staff, SEND professionals and parents where appropriate.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
