Job summary

Academics is currently working with a supportive primary school in Chester seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide consistent support to a pupil with additional needs. This role goes beyond classroom support.

The successful candidate will become an important part of the child's school experience, helping them access learning, develop confidence and feel included within the wider classroom. Salary will be determined by qualifications and relevant experience according to the client's

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND.
• Experience working on a 1:1 basis is desirable.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to recognise when a child needs reassurance or support.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and inclusion.
• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent; relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage independence and confidence.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Assist with transitions and changes to routine.
• Help the pupil access the wider curriculum.
• Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.
