Job summary

TeacherActive is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a KS4 student with Autism/ASD on a full-time, long-term basis in Rotherham. The role focuses on 1:1 support, managing emotions, and developing independence within an EHCP framework.

Applicants should have SEND experience, 1:1 support background, and strong behaviour and communication skills. Team Teach is desirable; CPD and ongoing support are provided through the agency.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism / ASD.
• Experience providing 1:1 support and working with students who have EHCPs.
• Team Teach training is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting young people with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to KS4 student with Autism/ASD and EHCP.
• Help student engage with learning and manage emotions.
• Develop independence using individual support strategies.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND school based in Rotherham, who are looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant. The school supports young people with additional learning needs, providing a specialist educational environment tailored to their individual needs.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis, starting immediately. The successful Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 support to a Key Stage 4 / KS4 student with a diagnosis of Autism / ASD and an Education, Health and Care Plan / EHCP, helping them engage with learning, manage their emotions and develop independence while following individual support strategies.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism / ASD

Experience providing 1:1 support and working with students who have EHCPs

Team Teach training is desirable

Strong behaviour management and communication skills

A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting young people with additional needs
