Job summary

Unique School Solutions are supporting a large SEND school in Rotherham, providing a Teaching Assistant to support students aged 5-19 with ASD and PDA. The role involves working 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 in the classroom, alongside other TAs, under the guidance of the class teacher.

The position starts ASAP and may lead to a permanent role after 12 weeks. The school is described as UK leading, rated Good by Ofsted 2023, and provides a supportive leadership team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or adults with ASD and/or PDA within the last 2 years in a school/residential/social care setting
• Good level of physical fitness required for a demanding role
• Patience, empathy and calmness are essential
• Able to work under the direction of the class teacher and use own initiative
• Makaton experience is desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

• Support students in the classroom on a 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 basis alongside other TAs
• Work under the guidance of the class teacher and with your fellow TAs
• Be involved in delivering targeted support during lessons and activities

£115.00 per day

Start date: ASAP

Contract type: Temp - perm following 12 weeks successful temporary placement

Working hours: Monday Friday, term time only, 35.5 hours a week

Unique School Solutions are supporting a large SEND school in Rotherham, who support students aged 5-19 with Autism (ASD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Working on a 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 basis, you will support students in the classroom alongside other TA's, under the guidance of the class teacher. This job is to start ASAP, and for the right person could lead to a permanent position.

Essential requirements for the role:

• Previous experience working with children or adults with ASD and/or PDA. This needs to be within the last 2 years, and within a school/residential/social care setting
• A good level of physical fitness. This is a demanding role
• Patience, empathy and calmness
• The ability to work under the direction of the class teacher as well as using own initiative
• Personal care and Makaton experience is desirable but not essential
