Job summary

Unique School Solutions is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a large school in Rotherham. You will support students with ASD/PDA on a 1:1 to 3:1 basis, working with other TAs under a class teacher's guidance. The role starts ASAP with a view to a permanent position after 12 weeks.

The role is in a UK leading specialist school serving ages 5-19, offering a supportive leadership team and ongoing professional development through in-house training.

Qualifications

• Experience with ASD and/or PDA in school/residential/social care setting within last 2 years.
• Good physical fitness for a demanding role.
• Patience, empathy and calmness.
• Ability to follow directions and use own initiative.
• Personal care and Makaton experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support students in the classroom on a 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 basis alongside other TAs under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Work with a team of TAs and classroom staff to support learning during term time.
• Potential for permanent position after a successful 12-week placement.

Contract type: Temp - perm following 12 weeks successful temporary placement

Working hours: Monday Friday, term time only, 35.5 hours a week

Unique School Solutions are supporting a large SEND school in Rotherham, who support students aged 5-19 with Autism (ASD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Working on a 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 basis, you will support students in the classroom alongside other TA's, under the guidance of the class teacher. This job is to start ASAP, and for the right person could lead to a permanent position.

Essential requirements for the role:

• Previous experience working with children or adults with ASD and/or PDA. This needs to be within the last 2 years, and within a school/residential/social care setting
• A good level of physical fitness. This is a demanding role
• Patience, empathy and calmness
• The ability to work under the direction of the class teacher as well as using own initiative
• Personal care and Makaton experience is desirable but not essential
