Job summary

TP Tutors is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Tutor for the S1 area of Sheffield. You will provide tailored educational support during school hours on weekdays, helping learners with SEN to build confidence and re-engage with learning.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of UK teaching/tutoring experience, a good understanding of the UK curriculum, and the ability to differentiate lessons. DBS Update or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience in the UK.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
• Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
• DBS Update Service on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.

• Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to individual learning needs.
• Support students in core subjects as required (English, Maths, Science).
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet SEN needs.

Location: S1, Sheffield
Hours: Part-Time, School Hours (Weekdays)
Pay: £25 - £30 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 1:1 SEN Tutor to provide tailored educational support to learners in the S1 area of Sheffield. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised tuition during weekday school hours, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve their academic goals.

You will work closely with learners who may have a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties, adapting lessons to meet their individual requirements and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to individual learning needs.

• Plan and deliver personalised lessons that promote engagement and progress.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
• Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification.
• Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education.
• Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
• Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies.
