Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment in Kirkham, Lancashire, seeks a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a secondary student with an EHCP. Start date is September 2026. You will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, term-time only, with potential for a long-term contract and eventual permanent placement.

The role involves 1:1 support across KS3/KS4, differentiating tasks with teachers, promoting participation, and supporting emotional wellbeing and EHCP targets. DBS update is requested.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND (ASC/Autism, ADHD, SEMH, SLD) preferred.
• Warm, calm and resilient approach with de-escalation and active listening.
• Ability to support core secondary curricula (English, Maths, Science).
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to process one before September.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 academic, social and emotional guidance to a student across KS3/KS4.
• Differentiate learning tasks with subject teachers to promote participation.
• Support emotional regulation, sensory needs, and focus strategies.
• Encourage independence and positive peer interactions.
• Collaborate with SENCO and pastoral leads to monitor EHCP milestones.
