Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work in a welcoming SEN primary school in the Wigan area. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day, helping them access learning and achieve personalised targets within a nurturing environment.

The role involves collaborating with teachers and SEN professionals, implementing EHCP targets and supporting emotional development while promoting inclusion and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN in schools or similar environments.
• Caring, patient and empathetic nature.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
• Confidence supporting children with additional learning or behavioural needs.
• Remain calm, flexible and resilient in varied situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to an individual pupil throughout the school day.
• Assist with engagement in lessons and classroom activities.
• Support EHCP targets and learning plan implementation.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to pupil needs.
• Encourage communication, social interaction and independence.
• Monitor progress and feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
