Job summary

Uniform Education is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming three-form entry mainstream primary school in Brent to provide 1:1 SEN support. The role starts as soon as possible and is full-time term-time only.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver personalised support, adapt resources, and help the pupil access the curriculum while promoting inclusion, wellbeing and independence.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs in a primary school.
• Experience working in a 1:1 Teaching Assistant role.
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one).
• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
• Support the pupil in accessing learning activities and participating fully in lessons.
• Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
• Support communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals where appropriate.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
