Job summary

The Graduate Network is currently seeking a 1:1 SEN Learning Mentor in Wolverhampton to support a non-verbal pupil with additional needs. You will help the pupil access learning, follow routines and stay safe and engaged throughout the school day.

Ideal candidates are graduates who are patient, caring and resilient, able to build trust through consistency, empathy and positive interaction. An Enhanced DBS is required or in progress.

Qualifications

  • 2:2 degree or above in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject.
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, nurturing approach.
  • The ability to build trust and provide consistent 1:1 support.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a non-verbal pupil with additional needs and help access learning.
  • Follow daily routines and keep the pupil feeling safe and supported throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide structure, reassurance and encouragement.

  • 1:1 SEN Learning Mentor
  • £85 - £100 per day
  • Immediate start until July 2027
  • ‘Good’ primary school based in Wolverhampton
  • 1:1 support for a non-verbal SEN pupil with additional needs
The Role

As a 1:1 SEN Learning Mentor, you will provide dedicated support to a non-verbal pupil with additional needs. You will help the pupil access learning, follow daily routines and feel safe and supported throughout the school day. You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide structure, reassurance and consistent encouragement.

This role will suit a patient, caring and resilient graduate who wants to make a genuine difference to a child with SEN. You should be calm under pressure, confident following guidance and able to build trust through consistency, empathy and positive interaction. This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering a future in SEN, educational psychology, clinical psychology or teaching.
