You don't need to hold a formal Teaching Assistant qualification to apply.

We welcome applications from candidates who have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals. Your previous experience could be highly transferable to a 1:1 pupil support role within a school.
You may have previously worked as a Support Worker, Care Assistant, Carer, Youth Worker, Childcare Practitioner, Residential Support Worker, Sports Coach, Mentor, Behaviour Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant or in another role involving individual support.
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to an individual pupil, helping them access their education while developing their confidence, independence and social skills.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day
Supporting the pupil with classroom learning and activities
Helping the pupil understand and complete learning tasks
Encouraging the pupil to stay focused, engaged and motivated
Supporting children with SEND and additional needs
Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive social skills
Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, communication difficulties or behavioural needs where required
Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate their emotions
Remaining calm and consistent when supporting challenging or difficult situations
Providing emotional and pastoral support where required
Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of the pupil
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team
Communicating any concerns or changes in the pupil's behaviour or wellbeing to relevant staff
Supporting the pupil with their individual learning and developmental goals
Building a positive, trusting and professional relationship with the pupil
Encouraging the pupil to become as independent as possible
Helping create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
No formal Teaching Assistant qualification is required
Must be based in High Wycombe or willing to commute to High Wycombe
Available to work 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
A caring, patient and supportive approach
Confident working with children on a one-to-one basis
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive relationships and gain the trust of pupils
Patient and resilient when supporting pupils with additional needs
Able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
Reliable, professional and committed
Able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Experience supporting individuals with SEND, autism, ADHD, behavioural needs or communication difficulties is advantageous but not essential
Previous school experience is desirable but not essential
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong transferable experience from care, support work, childcare, residential care, healthcare, sports coaching, mentoring, behaviour support or a similar environment.
