Job summary

Teaching Personnel requires a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner to work in Northumberland secondary schools. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs across Key Stages 3 and 4, aiming to improve engagement and school life.

You will help implement targeted behaviour plans, support de-escalation, and collaborate with teaching and SEN teams to monitor progress and ensure a safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, care or similar).
  • Level 2+ Qualification in Education / Health Care or related.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Resilient, calm and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support.
  • Support students with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or additional learning barriers.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans.
  • Assist with de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support pupils in classrooms, intervention spaces, or alternative provision settings; work with teaching, pastoral and SEN teams.
  • Monitor and report on student behaviour and engagement.
  • Promote a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
