Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Mental Health & Behaviour Support Practitioner to join a Northumberland secondary school network. Ideally starting October 2026, this long-term role offers flexible hours (full-time or part-time) and the chance to progress to permanent.

You will support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs across KS3 and KS4. Your duties include 1:1 and small-group support, applying behaviour strategies, de-escalation, and reporting on engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work or care.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Resilient, calm and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support.
• Support students with SEMH needs or barriers to learning.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and plans.
• De-escalation and emotional regulation support.
• Support pupils in classrooms, intervention spaces or alternative settings.
• Collaborate with teaching, pastoral and SEN teams.
• Monitor and report on student behaviour and engagement.
• Promote a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.
