Job summary

Milk Education are partnering with a Stockport secondary school to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant for 1:1 support with a student in Key Stages 3/4. The role focuses on enabling access to learning, building confidence and promoting inclusion in the classroom.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to tailor activities, monitor progress and support emotional wellbeing in a patient, proactive manner.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience supporting students with Autism (desirable).
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent reliability, punctuality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with Autism.
  • Help maintain engagement and focus throughout lessons.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the student's individual needs.
  • Support emotional wellbeing and promote positive behaviour.
  • Prepare learning resources and assist with classroom organisation.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff.
  • Encourage inclusion, independence and confidence within the school setting.
  • Assist with lesson planning, assessment and adapting activities where required.

SEND Teaching Assistant
Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity | Stockport, Manchester

Milk Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Stockport, Manchester, who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual who is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of young people with additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with a student on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support to help them access learning, build confidence and thrive within the classroom environment.

The school is seeking someone who is patient, resilient and committed to creating positive outcomes for children with SEND, particularly those with Autism.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
