Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent role.
• Patience and a flexible approach when supporting pupils with autism.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to children with autism
• Supporting pupils to access learning and participate positively in classroom activities
• Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
• Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and life skills
• Using appropriate strategies to support pupils with their individual needs
• Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour, using positive and consistent approaches
• Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and other professionals to provide consistent support
• Following individual support plans and adapting your approach to meet the needs of each pupil
• Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
