Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a fantastic autism-focused SEN school in Shirley, providing 1:1 support for pupils, on a long-term, starting immediately.

This role offers flexible days and hours, ongoing training, and access to Milk Education’s CPD resources, wellbeing hub, and support from a dedicated consultant, all designed to help you support children with autism to reach their full potential.

Qualifications

• Experience working 1:1 with children or young people with autism or additional learning needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience, empathy, and a caring approach.
• Ability to work effectively under the guidance of teachers and SEN coordinators.
• A resilient, proactive, and understanding attitude, sensitive to the individual needs of pupils on the autism spectrum.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with autism, tailoring assistance to individual needs.
• Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily routines.
• Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement personalised learning plans and strategies.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement, ensuring a calm, safe, and nurturing learning space.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and a sense of achievement in pupils.
