Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant for a full-time role at a welcoming primary school in Wythenshawe. The role focuses on helping a pupil access learning, develop social and communication skills, and thrive within the school.

You will provide 1:1 support, adapt activities for ASC needs, and work with staff to implement strategies, ensuring a nurturing, patient approach and safeguarding in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs.
• Patience, empathy and a nurturing approach.
• Understanding ASC strategies including sensory and communication needs.
• GCSEs in English and Maths

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASC.
• Adapt learning activities to pupil's needs and learning style.
• Support development of communication, social interaction and emotional regulation skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and external agencies to ensure best outcomes for the pupil.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents as appropriate.
• Help manage transitions, routines and sensory needs throughout the school day.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
