Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 ASD Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Barnet. You will provide personalised support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder, helping them stay engaged in learning and daily routines.

The role requires patience, empathy, and strong communication to collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and parents. This is a temporary, full-time position with safeguarding checks and DBS required.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with ASD or additional needs.
• Patient, calm and caring approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to adapt learning and support to individual needs.
• Previous experience within schools, care, youth work, or support work is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD.
• Support the student inside and outside the classroom.
• Help the pupil stay engaged with learning and daily routines.
• Use positive behaviour management and communication strategies.
• Support emotional regulation and social development.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents.
• Create a calm, safe, and supportive learning environment.
