Sales Director (European / Global)

In support of a specialist and successful family-owned business based in the UK, we are seeking a new Sales Director to support further European and international market growth.

With a multi-million turnover - particularly in aerospace - and specialisms in the design, manufacture and supply of graphite machining, EDM wire, EDM wire spares and copper components and assemblies, our client has a distinguished history in supplying aero engine manufacturers along with their resulting supply chains. Their capability is considered to be niche within EDM (electric discharge machining) manufacturing.

With an ongoing focus on the continued growth of their existing and future customer relationships in the Europe, North America and Asia, the Sales Director is to strategically continue this journey. This position can be field based in Europe and reporting into the UK based Board of Directors, the selected individual will be heavily involved in growing sales through core client relationship development and management. This is a proactive and strategic role.

Core Responsibilities will Include
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing the European and international sales strategy - delivering against strategic financial sales targets, aiming to increase values and gross margin
  • Managing and developing international sales engagement - monitoring and reporting on performance in line with expectations
  • Developing relationships with senior executives particularly at large aerospace companies, with the aim of increasing market share within these businesses and their sub-contractors
  • Demonstrating a clear view of current market position within the industry, building knowledge of competitors and staying close to trends in the sector
Experience & Background:
  • Have a working awareness of the EDM (electrical discharge machining) process.
  • Have existing senior level sales & marketing leadership experience from working within technical products/services provider businesses - experience from within the aerospace is preferred.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing successful sales strategies.
  • Energetic, intelligent and professional with the ability to motivate and lead others.

A strong engineering/manufacturing background is essential for this role due to the technical engagement. The role will require travel, and suitable candidates should be able to speak a strong level of English.
