Job summary

IFF is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, based in Grasse, France. As (Senior) Scientist - Analytical Sciences, you will lead the development and characterization of natural ingredients within our R&D Naturals organization.

You will apply advanced analytical techniques, including GC/GC-MS and LC/LC-MS, with chemometrics and multivariate data analysis, to translate findings into actionable insights for projects and programs.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in GC/GC-MS, with additional experience in LC/LC-MS.
• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Natural Products Chemistry, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to interpret complex analytical datasets and solve challenging scientific problems.
• Experience with natural extracts, essential oils, botanical ingredients, flavors, or fragrances.
• Knowledge of untargeted profiling, metabolomics, chemometrics and multivariate data analysis.
• Demonstrated experience leading scientific projects or analytical workstreams within an R&D environment.
• Strong communication, collaboration and mentoring capabilities.
• Passion for staying close to experimental science while contributing to strategic project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytical workstreams supporting development and characterization of natural ingredients, from defining questions to analytical recommendations.
• Interpret and challenge complex datasets from GC, GC-MS, LC and LC-MS.
• Apply untargeted profiling, metabolomics, chemometrics and multivariate data analysis.
• Develop, optimize and implement innovative analytical methods and data-processing strategies.
• Translate analytical findings into meaningful scientific insights for project decisions.
• Collaborate with R&D Leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to solve complex challenges.
• Mentor scientists and contribute to analytical expertise development.
• Explore emerging analytical technologies, automation and AI-assisted approaches.
• Progressively assume broader project coordination and leadership responsibilities.
