Job summary

IFF is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, based in Grasse, France. As (Senior) Scientist - Analytical Sciences, you will lead the development and characterization of natural ingredients within our R&D Naturals organization.

You will apply advanced analytical techniques, including GC/GC-MS and LC/LC-MS, with chemometrics and multivariate data analysis, to translate findings into actionable insights for projects and programs.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in GC/GC-MS, with additional experience in LC/LC-MS.
• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Natural Products Chemistry, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to interpret complex analytical datasets and solve challenging scientific problems.
• Experience with natural extracts, essential oils, botanical ingredients, flavors, or fragrances.
• Knowledge of untargeted profiling, metabolomics, chemometrics and multivariate data analysis.
• Demonstrated experience leading scientific projects or analytical workstreams within an R&D environment.
• Strong communication, collaboration and mentoring capabilities.
• Passion for staying close to experimental science while contributing to strategic project leadership.

Working closely with R&D Program and Project Leaders, the Analytical Laboratory Technical Manager, and Analytical Project Managers, you will leverage advanced analytical techniques and data-driven approaches to generate actionable insights and strengthen our analytical capabilities.

Where You'll Make a Difference

Lead analytical workstreams supporting the development and characterization of natural ingredients, from defining scientific questions through to analytical recommendations.

Interpret and challenge complex analytical datasets generated through GC, GC-MS, LC and LC-MS techniques.

Apply targeted and untargeted analytical approaches, including chemical profiling, metabolomics, chemometrics, and multivariate data analysis.

Develop, optimize and implement innovative analytical methods and advanced data-processing strategies.

Translate analytical findings into meaningful scientific insights that support project and program decisions.

Partner closely with R&D Program Leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to solve complex scientific challenges.

Collaborate with laboratory and analytical science colleagues to ensure efficient experimental execution and knowledge sharing.

Mentor scientists and contribute to the development of analytical expertise across the organization.

Explore emerging analytical technologies, automation solutions, advanced data analytics and AI-assisted approaches.

Depending on experience, progressively assume broader project coordination and leadership responsibilities.

Strong expertise in GC/GC-MS, with additional experience in LC/LC-MS.

PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Natural Products Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Proven ability to interpret complex analytical datasets and solve challenging scientific problems.

Experience working with natural extracts, essential oils, botanical ingredients, flavors, fragrances, or other complex natural matrices.

Knowledge of untargeted profiling, metabolomics, chemometrics and multivariate data analysis is highly valued.

Demonstrated experience leading scientific projects or analytical workstreams within an R&D environment.
