Schneider Electric seeks an experienced Export Control Jurisdiction & Classification expert to lead EMEA initiatives and ensure compliant product classifications.

The role focuses on automating processes, improving data quality and aligning with regulatory changes across multiple regions, with strong collaboration across Engineering, Compliance and Product teams.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in export control jurisdiction and classification.
  • Expert knowledge of EU export control regulations and EU Dual-Use.
  • Strong understanding of UK export controls and other EMEA country requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience classifying hardware, software, encryption items and technology.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and driving organizational change.

Responsabilités

  • Serve as the primary EMEA SME and escalation point for jurisdiction and export classification matters.
  • Lead and support EMEA/global J&C initiatives from regulatory changes and strategic projects.
  • Integrate export classification requirements early in product development and R&D lifecycles.
  • Support Export Control CoE initiatives, including governance, de minimis, and TF analyses.
  • Lead regional classification projects with documentation, automation, change management and data governance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Digital, Product Management, Sales and Compliance to meet classification objectives.
  • Communicate regulatory developments and classification requirements to global CoEs and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in automation, data integrity and scalable classification solutions.

Context

Within the Legal / Compliance function, in the Export Control scope, this role is key to securing export classification and jurisdiction & classification activities across the EMEA region.

Within the Legal / Compliance function, in the Export Control scope, this role is key to securing export classification and jurisdiction & classification activities across the EMEA region. You will help ensure consistency, scalability and compliance of classifications for commodities, software, technology and services, while supporting regional and global programs driven by regulatory changes, business priorities and organizational transformation.

Location

This role is based in Spain, in Barcelona (preferably).

It could be based in France, in Rueil-Malmaison or Grenoble or in Germany, in Düsseldorf or Berlin.

There is no relocation for this position.

Your role

Reporting to the Director, Global Jurisdiction & Classification (J&C), you will serve as the primary EMEA classification subject matter expert and escalation point for jurisdiction and export classification matters.

You will lead the successful execution of EMEA J&C activities, coordinate cross-functional projects and contribute to continuous improvement, with a strong focus on automation, digitalization, data quality and compliance outcomes.

Your missions
  • Serve as the primary EMEA subject matter expert and escalation point for jurisdiction and export classification matters.
  • Lead and support EMEA and global J&C initiatives resulting from regulatory changes, business transformation efforts, acquisitions and strategic compliance projects.
  • Drive the integration of export classification requirements into the early stages of the product development and R&D lifecycle.
  • Support Export Control CoE initiatives, including classification governance, de minimis assessments, Foreign Direct Product Rule analyses, and technology control and transfer programs.
  • Lead regional classification projects through standardized project management practices, including process documentation, automation, change management, communication and data governance.
  • Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Digital, Product Management, Sales, Compliance, Learning and other stakeholders to deliver classification and compliance objectives.
  • Communicate the impact of EMEA export control regulatory developments and classification requirements to global Export Control CoEs and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, data integrity, process efficiency and scalable classification solutions.
Your profile
  • You have 5 to 10 years of experience in export control jurisdiction and classification, preferably within a multinational environment.
  • You bring expert knowledge of EU export control regulations, including EU Dual-Use Regulation and related classification methodologies.
  • You have a strong understanding of UK export controls and familiarity with other EMEA country-specific requirements.
  • You have demonstrated experience classifying hardware, software, encryption items and technology.
  • You have experience managing cross-functional projects and driving organizational change.
  • You hold at least a Bachelor’s degree and are able to travel as business needs require.
Your Skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and multiple functional areas.
  • Experience with SAP GTS and related trade compliance technologies would be preferred.
  • Experience supporting automation, digital transformation, AI-enabled solutions or process optimization initiatives would be highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and database management.
