Schneider Electric in Angoulême is seeking an experienced Laboratory Department Representative to lead a 15-person team and oversee subcontractors in a fast-paced R&D environment.

You will manage testing programs, ensure compliance with UL/CSA/COFRAC standards, drive quality improvements, and align the lab with the company's Total Rewards philosophy and strategic objectives. English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with relevant mechanical/electromechanical focus.
  • 5+ years managing a certified laboratory and leading teams.
  • Expert in processes, quality systems and test plans.

Responsabilités

  • Lead Laboratory Department team (15 people) and manage subcontractors.
  • Conduct testing and ensure compliance with rules, methods and updates.
  • Develop budgets and meet operational and project objectives.
  • Maintain safety, accreditations and certification interfaces (UL/CSA/COFRAC).
  • Drive innovation, monitor industry standards, and support other labs.
  • Recruit and develop team, foster collaboration and timely delivery.

Your role:

You will join the C&S division’s Research and Development team in Angoulême, a dynamic and dedicated team where a positive atmosphere, customer focus, innovation, collaboration, and meeting deadlines are the hallmarks of our daily work.

You will report to the Director of Research and Development (Maelle) and will serve as the representative for the laboratory division, managing a team of 15 people and several subcontractors.

Your missions:
Laboratory Department Representative:
  • Conduct testing and provide related expertise for new products as well as our current products
  • Ensure compliance with testing rules and methods, as well as updates to these
  • Ensure that the necessary expertise and testing resources are available to meet requirements
  • Develop a budget and meet related objectives (operational and project-based)
  • Support other laboratories as needed
  • Effectively build and maintain a professional network within the laboratory community
Responsible for quality, safety, and accreditations:
  • Ensure safety within the laboratory premises
  • Ensure the laboratory maintains the required level of accreditations (UL/CSA, COFRAC)
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for certification and approval bodies
  • Research (or commission research on) industry standards and their developments and/or new standards
  • Ensure confidentiality and impartiality in expert assessments and core testing
  • Select subcontractors and partners in consultation with the Procurement Department
  • Validate test reports and results from subcontractors (resources, expert assessments, testing)
Development and support of the laboratory’s business vision:
  • Ensure the growth and development of the team’s skills (including recruitment)
  • Ensure the team’s contribution to innovation (particularly in materials)
  • Conduct systematic industry monitoring to optimize, improve, and automate tools and work methods, and propose plans for progress and productivity
Team Management and Meeting Deadlines:
  • Set goals, assess individual skills, and help your team grow
  • Maintain team engagement and support them with the necessary resources and tools
  • Support your team by providing the necessary resources and tools (training, equipment, tools, etc.), while ensuring a focus on their core responsibilities and the customer
  • Foster internal and external collaboration
Your profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering), specialization: mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, electronics, automation
  • More than 5 years of experience in managing a certified laboratory and leading teams
Your competences :
  • Expert in processes, quality systems, and test plans, as well as their implementation
  • Expert in testing for high-volume mechanical/electromechanical products
  • Strong general knowledge of standards for industrial products and related testing methods
  • Strong knowledge of certifications
  • Good knowledge of electromechanical products for machine control panels
  • Good general technical knowledge of electromechanics
  • Team support to ensure collaboration within and with other teams
  • A desire to play an active role in the development of our future products
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong proactive listening, decision-making, and vision-setting abilities
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a multicultural and multi-team environment
  • A passion for the customer: proposing relevant solutions and meeting deadlines

For this France based position, the expected pay range is EUR 78.400 - EUR 117.600 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives (annual bonus) at target. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located in France. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Individual’s compensation is positioned within the range based on several factors such as knowledge, job-related skills, experience, potential and relevant education or training.
