Job summary

Airwallex in Europe is seeking an HR Operations Generalist to partner with our Paris, Berlin, and Barcelona offices, helping run core HR operations and foster a strong in‑office culture during rapid growth.

You will own onboarding and offboarding end‑to‑end, manage payroll inputs and benefits, maintain HRIS data, respond to HR inquiries, and look for ways to automate processes with a proactive, hands‑on approach.

Qualifications

• Foundational generalist experience in People Operations / HR in a high-growth environment.
• Passion for culture and team building as a culture champion.
• Strong knowledge of local HR practices, benefits and compliance.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented operator with admin-heavy workflows.
• Experience supporting payroll processes (incl. commissions/bonuses).
• Fluency in English and French.
• Confident managing ambiguity and building processes from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Own onboarding and offboarding end-to-end, ensuring a seamless employee experience.
• Serve as the primary HR contact; manage ticketing system with timely, high-quality responses.
• Maintain accurate HRIS and payroll data (incl. EOR), run audits, and manage data changes.
• Support payroll processes, including commissions and bonuses by auditing inputs and resolving discrepancies.
• Administer benefits programs and support ongoing rollout; ensure compliance with the relevant regulations for the markets that you are supporting.
• Oversee day-to-day office operations (supplies, vendors, access, equipment, general upkeep).
• Act as a front-of-house presence: greet visitors, manage deliveries, coordinate with building management.
• Support and execute employee engagement initiatives (events, monthly celebrations, quarterly offsites).
• Help build and scale a strong in-office culture as the office grows.
• Identify inefficiencies in manual workflows and drive process documentation, improvements, automation and AI.
• Gather employee feedback (surveys, onboarding check-ins, day-to-day interactions) and translate it into action.
