Résumé du poste

Inserm in France is offering a PhD position in Biological sciences (Department U1212). The project investigates how cellular identities are defined by highly expressed genes in C. elegans during embryonic development using scRNAseq data.

The doctoral candidate will apply genetics methods such as genome editing and RNAi, use fluorescent reporters to characterize gene expression, and work to identify regulatory pathways that drive transitions between expression patterns.

Qualifications

  • Solid foundations in genetics and molecular biology.
  • Good proficiency with data analysis.
  • Some practical lab experience.

Responsabilités

  • Conduct bioinformatics analysis of C. elegans scRNAseq datasets.
  • Apply genetics methods such as genome editing and RNAi to characterize gene expression with fluorescent reporters.

Offer Description

Through bioinformatics analysis of C. elegans scRNAseq datasets we have recently discovered that cellular identities are characterized by genes with extremely high gene expression levels (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.07.18.734896v1.full) The goal of this PhD project will be to explore the function and regulation of such flared genes during the embryonic development of C. elegans. The doctoral candidate will use genetics methods such as genome editing, RNAi to characterize the expression of these genes using fluorescent reporters. The objective will then be to identify the regulatory pathways that allows for rapid transition from one gene expression pattern to another in the course of terminal cell identity acquisition.
