Description du poste

About the Company

Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions

  • "Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO.
  • "Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.
About the Role

As the FPGA Team Lead, you will architect future generations of our in-house satellite equipment - including the next generation of our camera to support our vision-based navigation system - while leading and growing the FPGA team. Collaborating closely with electronics, software, and systems engineering teams, you will steer our long-term technology roadmaps and oversee the delivery of highly reliable, mission-critical flight systems. You will mentor engineers, define and enforce processes, and oversee verification activities to ensure all FPGA deliverables consistently meet the standards required for spaceflight. This is a hands-on technical leadership role at the core of our flight system's operational capability.

Job Description
  • Define end-to-end FPGA system architectures and low-level block designs from system-level requirements for new core equipment to be deployed on satellites.
  • Drive technology roadmaps to continually improve performance and identify opportunities for new development.
  • Collaborate with the Systems and Software teams to ensure seamless integration of FPGA solutions with flight software and satellite systems.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the FPGA engineering team.
  • Drive task breakdown, resource allocation, schedule risk identification, and project delivery estimates.
  • Manage technical relationships with external vendor and supplier technical leads.
  • Establish and uphold design standards, VHDL coding guidelines and processes.
  • Document design decisions, implementation details, and testing protocols for future reference and compliance purposes.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in FPGA technology and embedded systems to improve system designs and practices continually.
Requirements
  • Expertise developing for System-on-Chip (SoC) FPGA architectures.
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing and reviewing VHDL.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing complex FPGA designs including clocking and reset strategies, multi-clock domain crossing (CDC), and timing closure.
  • Hands-on experience with standard memory and communication peripherals (UART, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, DDR4, NAND Flash).
  • Practical experience conducting both pre-silicon simulation/unit testing and on-hardware debugging.
  • Experience of leading an engineering team including task breakdown and allocation, risk identification and project management.
  • Continuous improvement through team mentoring, code review and training.
  • Identify and establish improvements to processes and standards, to improve quality and reliability.
  • Required degree: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Level of experience: At least 8 years of experience in FPGA development, with at least 2 years in a technical lead, team lead, or architecture ownership role.
Optional Experience
  • Experience with Microchip FPGAs and tools (Libero, SoftConsole, etc.).
  • Experience with unit-level simulation and verification frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience designing for high-reliability, space, or high-radiation environments (preferably GEO), including radiation mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of low-level embedded software development, drivers, or Linux kernel.
Attributes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Innovative thinker with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to excellence and precision in work.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and developing effective solutions.Ability to present technical concepts clearly to multidisciplinary teams, executive leadership, external suppliers, and clients.
  • Passionate about developing team members' technical skills through constructive feedback and training.
