Description du poste

Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions

  • "Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO.
  • "Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.
About the Role

As an FPGA Engineer, you will design and implement high-performance FPGA solutions for our in-house core satellite equipment, with a primary focus on our 2nd generation camera to support our vision-based navigation system. Collaborating closely with electronics, software, and systems engineering teams, you will ensure high levels of efficiency and reliability of mission-critical systems. In this role, you’ll also help build automated CI/CD verification pipelines and modular testbenches to validate designs for spaceflight. This is a hands-on engineering role at the core of our flight system's operational capability.

Job Description
  • Profile and analyse the performance of embedded flight software to identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Design and implement hardware accelerators in FPGA to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and integrate interfaces between FPGA and other system components to enhance data flow and processing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of FPGA solutions with flight software.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of FPGA designs to verify their performance and reliability under mission conditions.
  • Develop and maintain robust automated CI/CD verification pipelines and modular testbench frameworks to ensure continuous, high-quality testing and integration of FPGA designs.
  • Document design decisions, implementation details, and testing protocols for future reference and compliance purposes.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in FPGA technology and embedded systems to improve system designs and practices continually.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in VHDL, with hands-on experience developing on FPGAs.
  • Proven experience with System-on-chip (SoC) FPGA architectures.
  • Background in designing and implementing DSP algorithms, hardware accelerators and custom IP pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with standard memory and communication peripherals (UART, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, DDR4, NAND Flash).
  • Practical experience conducting both pre-silicon simulation/unit testing and on-hardware debugging.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Required degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Level of experience: At least 4 years of experience in FPGA development, focusing on performance optimisation and hardware acceleration.
Optional Experience
  • Experience with Microchip FPGAs and tools (Libero, SoftConsole, etc.).
  • Experience building automated CI/CD verification pipelines and unit-level simulation frameworks.
  • Experience designing for high-reliability, space, or high-radiation environments (preferably GEO), including radiation mitigation techniques.
Attributes
  • Innovative thinker with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to excellence and precision in work.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and developing effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical collaboration and documentation.
What we offer
